Turnbuckle Readymade

$45.00

A turnbuckle, (aka bottlescrew) is a piece of hardware used to adjust the tension (or length) of the cables, tie rods, et c., supporting everything from garden gates to suspension bridges. It's basically an elongated double-nut, with oppositely-threaded receptacles on each end, which hold eye bolts. When the turnbuckle is rotated, the eye bolts move in or out to tighten or loosen the attached cables (or whatever). This fine specimen is of architectural scale, and has a marvelous, rusty, pitted patina. It is reminiscent of a garden spirit house, or a lantern, and would look wonderful holding a fat candle.
