Joshua Trees

$20.00

The Joshua Tree (Yucca brevifolia) native to the Mojave Desert in Southern California and adjacent states. Like agaves (the plants used to make tequila) the Joshua Tree is a yucca, a member of the asparagus family. The common name was supposedly bestowed by Mormon pioneers, who imagined in the trees’ outstretched branches the silhouette of the Prophet Joshua. But the Joshua Tree is in trouble. The species predicted to be drastically-impacted by climate change, with a probable population decrease of 90% likely by the end of the century. This photograph seems to be a negative image, with the light and dark areas reversed. However, we have seen days in the desert like this, with a storm on the horizon, and the sun coming in low. So who knows?

Found photo print. Slightly worn, with some scratches and pits. 7” x 9”
