Living Posters Lithograph

$140.00

Small-scale lithographed poster featuring a design by Chicago Art Nouveau pioneer Frank Hazenplug (1873–1931). Hazenplug (who also went by “Hazen”) was probably best known for his book designs. His covers for Stone & Kimball, Fleming Revell, Rand McNally, John Lane, and other publishers are quite collectible. This poster design was created for a charity event in Chicago focused on — you guessed it! — posters.

Imprimerie Chaix was a French art press which offered its subscribers reduced-sized versions of the best posters of the fin-de-siècle period. There were 256 color lithographic plates offered in the Maîtres de l'Affiche (Masters of the Poster) series, of which this is one.

To be clear: this print, though reduced in size from the original poster, is an actual stone lithograph from 1897.
