Creel-shaped Ikebana Basket

This sweet basket takes the form of a fisherman’s basket, but it seems likely that it is actually an ikebana basket, created as an homage to the lowly creel. Either way, it has a lot of personality! Original twined cord with slipknot, for use suspending the basket from a hook. The weavers (horizontal elements) are very fine bamboo strips. Some loss; on the delicate side. Japan, likely Taisho, but possibly older.
