Cloud Mountain Stone

$25.00

This “viewing stone” is a schist from deep in the North Cascades mountain range. Originally seafloor sediment, it was twisted by tectonic action as island chains carried on the Pacific plate were accreted onto the North American continent. This all happened during the Mesozoic — "when dinosaurs roamed the earth." Millions of years later, it was further folded and compressed when the seafloor plunged under the continent, creating the Cascade volcanoes.

To us, this rock symbolizes responding to stress with grace, and the transformational power of accepting those forces beyond our control. Holding one of these stones in the palm of your hand, you can feel the power and resilience of Mother Earth. Hopefully, you will also feel some of the stress of the day drain away from your body.

You can read more about the ancient tradition of “viewing stones” in the Journal section of this website.
