Anna Magnani Film Still

$20.00

Promotional film still from 1945 Italian neorealist film Roma città aperta (released as Open City in the U.S.). The film launched the careers of director Roberto Rossellini, writer Federico Fellini, and actress Anna Magnani (pictured). It focuses on a Resistance fighter trying to escape Nazi-occupied Rome in 1944, and was the first film of Rosselini's “Neorealist Trilogy” followed by Paisan (1946), and Germany, Year Zero (1948). Roma jump-started Italian filmmaking after the war; it won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1946, and was nominated for an Oscar at the Academy Awards the following year. Creasing, and a small tear.
